Briefly describe the transmission principle of belt conveyors

Belt conveyors are mainly composed of racks, conveyor belts, idlers, rollers, tensioning devices, transmission devices, etc. They have strong transportation ability, long transportation intervals, simple structure and easy protection, and can easily implement programmed control and automated operation.

Belt conveyors use continuous or intermittent movements of conveyor belts to transport items below 100KG or powdery or granular items. They operate at high speed, smoothly, with low noise, and can be transported up and down slopes. They are widely used in various industries such as home appliances, electronics, electrical appliances, machinery, tobacco, injection molding, postal and telecommunications, printing, food, and the assembly, testing, debugging, packaging, and transportation of items.

The transmission principle and characteristics of belt conveyors:

1. The traction force of the belt conveyor is transmitted through the friction between the transmission drum and the tape, so the tape must be tightened with a tensioning device to ensure that the conveyor belt has a certain initial tension at the separation point of the transmission drum.

2. The conveyor belt runs together with the cargo on the carrier roller. The conveyor belt is both a traction mechanism and a load-bearing mechanism, and there is no relative movement between the cargo and the conveyor belt, eliminating the frictional resistance between the conveyor belt and the cargo during operation. Because the roller is equipped with rolling bearings, there is rolling friction between the conveyor belt and the roller, which greatly reduces the running resistance, reduces power consumption, and increases the transportation interval. For a belt conveyor, the ability to transmit traction force depends on the tension of the tape, the wrap angle of the tape on the transmission drum, and the friction coefficient between the tape and the transmission drum. To ensure that the conveyor belt of the belt conveyor does not slip on the transmission drum and operates normally, corresponding methods should be adopted according to different situations in production practice.
